thyssenkrupp CEO Miguel López attends China Development Forum
On March 23-24, the 2025 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum (CDF) was held in Beijing. thyssenkrupp CEO Miguel López together with more than 110 global political and business leaders, as well as experts and scholars, gathered at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for this event. This year's forum was themed "Unleashing Development Momentum for Stable Growth of Global Economy”
On the morning of March 23, Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. He highlighted global concerns about China's economic development and the broader global economic landscape. He shared his observations and insights from three perspectives: the vitality of China's economy as seen through the "Spring Festival economy", the country's economic policies as reflected in the Two Sessions, and the pathway for global progress amid international changes.
At the symposium of “Cooperation in the Development of Global Industrial and Supply Chains”, Miguel López shared his insights. He emphasized that globalization has fostered deep integration of industrial and supply chains worldwide over the past few decades. Companies from different countries have leveraged their strengths to establish a global division of labor and cooperation system. However, in recent years, profound changes in the global political and economic landscape have posed numerous challenges to the stability and security of supply chains.
In this context, how can businesses find certainty amid uncertainty? How can they maintain competitiveness while achieving sustainable development? López stated that companies must not only deeply integrate into global markets and enhance cooperation but also ensure the security and flexibility of their supply chains while seizing global green development opportunities to build sustainable supply chains.
"To maintain the stability and smooth operation of global industrial chains, multinational corporations could leverage their innovation capabilities and global presence to collaborate with governments, jointly advancing international cooperation for mutual benefit," López said.
"The global industrial and supply chain landscape is undergoing profound changes. Despite ongoing challenges, new opportunities are emerging. Digitalization, sustainability, and diversification are shaping new growth drivers for businesses." Looking ahead, López stressed that openness, cooperation, technological innovation, and sustainable development are the key pillars for building a more stable and efficient global supply chain.
During his meeting with China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, the two parties exchanged views on thyssenkrupp’s development in China and joint China-EU efforts to address global trade and economic challenges.
