Meet three employees who are helping shape the future

Jiang Yiwen, 21, has been familiar with the steel business for a long time. For years, she passed the Shanghai Krupp Stainless (SKS) site on her way home. She now works there herself as an intern in the human resources department. “SKS is a well-known company here,” says the business student, who will graduate next year from the Shanghai University for Finance and Economics.

Gaining more than just work experience

Jiang has an open nature, which has made it easy for her to acquire more than just specialist knowledge at SKS. “Through this internship, I’m not just gaining work experience, I’m also meeting a lot of nice people,” she says. She speaks English with her colleagues – nowadays a basic requirement, as she says. But communication was not always so easy, especially at the beginning. Although she has been learning English since elementary school, it took Jiang Yiwen several days to get used to the accent of her Australian colleague. “Now I understand everyone here well,” she smiles, describing the progress she has made.

Looking to the future

Upon graduation, Jiang Yiwen would like to work for a foreign company or a joint
venture – not least to further improve her English. She could also well imagine
working for ThyssenKrupp.
